This strike was observed throughout the city and was part of a staggered strategy that included consumer strikes (July 1 and 2), a transport strike (July 3 and 4) and finally the general armed strike. During this period, the PCP-SL intensified its sabotage and armed propaganda actions in the Mantaro valley, carrying out multiple bombings and attacks on public and private institutions. The armed strike was part of the subversive strategy to generate insecurity and demonstrate territorial control in the cities of the central region of the country.
