MRTA attack on Juanjuí

On July 16, 1989, the MRTA attacked the town of Juanjuí, but the Army, previously alerted by a rondero, managed to repel the attack. The confrontation left forty dead, including subversives, civilians and five soldiers.

On July 16, 1989, the MRTA prepared an attack on the town of Juanjuí. Apparently, a rondero had managed to warn the Army and its members were able to prepare and confront the attack. In the confrontation, forty bodies were left dead among a large number of subversives, some civilians and five soldiers. This attack took place in the context of the MRTA offensive in San Martin, where the group had started actions in several localities of the region.
