Destruction of Centromín's compressor house in Morococha
Shining Path completely destroyed Centromín Perú's compressor house in Morococha on June 29, 1989. The attack generated tensions between workers from different mining companies in the area.
On June 29, 1989, a Shining Path column completely destroyed the installations of Centromín Perú's compressor house in Morococha. This bomb attack was part of a series of continuous attacks against Centromín Perú's machinery and facilities in the mining zone. As a result of the destruction, Centromín workers began to label the workers of other mining companies located in Morococha as subversives, because the facilities of these other companies did not suffer similar attacks. This attack took place in a context of intensification of terrorist actions by the PCP-Sendero Luminoso against the mining infrastructure in the central region of Peru.
