Recognition of Llamapsillon's self-defense patrols

The Llamapsillon community members organized a self-defense round that was recognized by the Armed Forces in Chaquicocha on June 24, 1989, in response to the PCP-SL threat after the Chongos Alto massacre.

Faced with the possibility of an event similar to the April 12, 1989 massacre in Chongos Alto, the Llamapsillón community members decided to organize a self-defense patrol. This patrol was officially recognized by the Armed Forces in the town of Chaquicocha on June 24, 1989. This recognition is framed in the context of the organization of self-defense committees in the area of Canipaco and Alto Cunas to confront the violence of the PCP-SL. Llamapsillón is an annex of the district of Chongos Alto, province of Huancayo.
