Second Ordinary National Congress FNTMMSP
Congress of the national mining federation held in a militarized environment where they debated the single national agenda and subversion. The majority of delegates condemned the actions of the PCP-SL and MRTA, although there was a minority presence of representatives who defended the positions of the Shining Path.
The Second Ordinary National Congress of the National Federation of Mining, Metallurgical and Iron and Steel Workers of Peru (FNTMMSP) was held in a highly militarized and radicalized atmosphere. The great majority of the leaders present responded politically to organizations belonging to Izquierda Unida (IU), although there were also representatives of UDP-Pueblo en Marcha with sympathies towards the MRTA. The presence of representatives of Pukallacta who defended the positions of the PCP Sendero Luminoso in the debate of commissions and in some moments of the plenary was notorious. One of the crucial issues, in addition to the single national agenda, was that of subversion, where the majority of delegates emphatically stated that the actions of the PCP-SL and the MRTA affected the companies, especially those located in the center of the country. Despite the radicalized atmosphere, the majority of delegates condemned the subversive actions and did not restrict the right of expression of the miniscule extremist representation present.
