Los Molinos confrontation between the Army and MRTA
Clash in Los Molinos leaves 63 MRTA dead, no wounded, no prisoners
A combat between units of the Peruvian Army and an armed column of the Túpac Amaru Revolutionary Movement took place in the locality of Los Molinos, near Jauja. The Peruvian Army reported 6 fatalities and 19 wounded, while the subversive side reported 63 fatalities and no wounded or prisoners. Civilians in the area denounced arbitrary executions of family members who lived in the area of the confrontation. Of the 63 corpses, only 8 were collected by family members, of which only 3 were MRTA militants and 5 were civilians, including a married couple with mental disorders.
