First foray to Mariscal Cáceres

First incursion of the PCP-SL into the Cashibo community of Mariscal Cáceres in June 1989, where they attempted to form committees and impose their laws. The Cashibo natives rejected the Shining Path proposal, refusing to organize under their control.

The PCP-SL Main Force of the Alto Huallaga Regional Committee made its first incursion into the Cashibo native community of Mariscal Caceres in June 1989. The Shining Path members gathered the villagers in the school and demanded that the community organize and follow their laws. The Cashibo refused to form committees because they wanted to live in peace and be free like their ancestors. In addition, the Cashibo knew the bloodthirsty way in which the PCP-SL imposed its laws in the colonist villages and annihilated authorities, accusing them of being 'informers', so they refused to collaborate with the subversive organization.
