Murder of Abelardo Ludeña Luque
The PCP-SL assassinated engineer Abelardo Ludeña Luque, IU militant and UNI professor, as part of its strategy of selective assassinations against opposition political leaders in Lima.
On May 17, 1989, the PCP-SL assassinated engineer Abelardo Ludeña Luque, who was a militant of Izquierda Unida (IU) and a professor at the National University of Engineering (UNI). This selective assassination was part of the Shining Path's strategy of eliminating political and social leaders who opposed their revolutionary project. The crime occurred in a context of intensified violence in Metropolitan Lima, where the PCP-SL sought to consolidate its presence in the capital by intimidating and eliminating leaders of popular and leftist political organizations.
