PCP-SL kills 10 community members in Chaquicocha

An armed column of the PCP-SL assassinated 10 community members, including several authorities, in Chaquicocha on May 10, 1989. The subversives also set fire to vehicles during the raid.

On May 10, 1989, an armed column of the PCP-SL raided Chaquicocha, an annex of the San José de Quero district. During this action, the Shining Path guerrillas murdered 10 community members, among them several local authorities. In addition to the murder of the villagers, the subversives set fire to a pickup truck and a truck. This attack was part of a wave of violence that the PCP-SL unleashed in the Alto Cunas area during 1989, targeting local authorities and the infrastructure of the associative companies.
