Peleje and Papaplaya Intake

On May 3, 1989, the MRTA took the towns of Peleje and Papaplaya in San Martin as part of its military actions during the reconstruction of the Northeastern Front. This action took place in the context of multiple incursions carried out by the subversive group in the region during that year.

On May 3, 1989, the MRTA took over the towns of Peleje and Papaplaya as part of its military actions in the department of San Martin. This action was part of the reconstruction process of the Northeastern Front (FNO) of the MRTA, which had been dismantled after the repression by the Peruvian Army between December 1987 and February 1988. The seizure of these villages was part of a series of incursions carried out at the beginning of 1989 that sought to demonstrate the active presence of the MRTA in the region. These military actions were carried out in parallel to the support that the MRTA gave to the regional strikes organized by FEDIP-SM.
