Inhumation of bodies of MRTA militants in Jauja General Cemetery

On May 1, 1989, the bodies of the MRTA militants killed in the Molinos confrontation on April 28 were buried in the Jauja General Cemetery. The 55 corpses arrived at 11:00 a.m. on board several dump trucks. During the two previous days, personnel from the Olavegoya hospital and members of the Provincial Criminal Court of Jauja performed the autopsies, wrote the necroscopy protocols and identified the 63 corpses admitted to the morgue, of which 58 were MRTA militants. On Sunday, April 30, some relatives were allowed to enter the morgue to recognize the bodies. Fifteen days later, the relatives of the dead emerretistas bought the land of the grave and erected a memorial mausoleum that was soon destroyed by paramilitaries of the Rodrigo Franco Command.
