Recognition of bodies by relatives at Hospital Olavegoya

On April 30, 1989, relatives went to the Olavegoya Hospital in Jauja to examine the bodies of the victims of the Molinos confrontation. The testimonies indicate that the villagers were disfigured, while the bodies of the subversives showed no signs of torture.

On Sunday, April 30, 1989, some relatives were allowed to enter the Olavegoya Hospital in Jauja to examine the bodies of the victims of the Molinos confrontation that took place on April 28. The relatives found that their countrymen were totally disfigured, while the bodies identified as terrorists showed no signs of torture. This recognition was carried out prior to the mass burial that took place the following day, May 1, when 55 bodies of subversives were transferred to the General Cemetery of Jauja. Access to the hospital had been heavily restricted by the Army since the day of the confrontation.
