MRTA-Army confrontation in Molinos

Clash between more than 100 Army soldiers and 67 MRTA members in the Puyhuan pampa on April 28, 1989, when the guerrillas were on their way to take the city of Tarma. The combat resulted in 6 soldiers dead and 58 MRTA militants dead.

On Friday, April 28, 1989, more than 100 Army soldiers clashed with a contingent of 67 MRTA members in the Puyhuan Pampa. The MRTA was heading towards Jauja with the objective of taking the city of Tarma aboard two trucks. When the trucks were passing through the Puyhuan pampa, they suddenly ran into an Army contingent patrolling the area. The confrontation resulted in the death of 6 soldiers and 58 MRTA militants according to necroscopy protocols. After the confrontation, the Army continued with the search and arrest of local people.
