Confrontation in Los Molinos
Clash in Los Molinos left 60 MRTA dead and subsequent executions
On the night of April 28, 1989, trucks carrying MRTA members were intercepted by an army patrol, causing an armed confrontation in which 6 military personnel were killed and 60 people, including MRTA subversives and some civilians. There were 20 wounded among the soldiers, but no survivors were reported among the MRTA members. After the confrontation, during a search and rescue operation, 3 inhabitants of the area were arbitrarily executed, while 7 others were detained and are still missing.
