Assassination of Congressman Eriberto Arroyo Mío

Izquierda Unida (IU) deputy Eriberto Arroyo Mío was murdered in Chaclacayo after dropping his children off at school. The crime occurred in a context of intensified political violence in Metropolitan Lima, where the PCP-SL carried out selective assassinations against political leaders and authorities. In a communiqué published in the newspaper "El Diario", the PCP-SL stated that they were not the perpetrators of this attack, dissociating themselves from the murder of the leftist parliamentarian. This event took place in a period of escalating violence in which various political actors and leaders were the target of attacks.
