Police intervention at universities on April 20, 1989
Army and police intervene San Marcos and La Cantuta on April 20, 1989, arresting more than 500 people
In the early morning of April 20, 1989, joint army and police forces again entered the universities of San Marcos and La Cantuta, arresting more than 500 people. During the process that led to the military intervention (1991-2000), the government proceeded to produce a counter-subversive manual, in which San Marcos was described as a recruitment center and the UNE as a military training center. Among the intervened students were Armando Amaro Condor, Marcelino Rosales and Felipe Flores Chipana, who would be assassinated the following year by the Colina Group.
