Mining union leader Ceferino Requis killed by PCP-SL in public assembly
The secretary general of the miners' union, Ceferino Requis, was assassinated by members of the PCP-SL in front of hundreds of delegates during an assembly of mine workers in Huancavelica. This assassination was part of the Shining Path's strategy of eliminating union leaders who did not align themselves with their proposal.
