Garcia announces economic reactivation program

President Alan García Pérez announces the start of an economic reactivation program to boost agriculture, industry and construction. This announcement was made in the context of a serious economic and political crisis that the country was going through. The program sought to reactivate key sectors of the Peruvian economy that were in a critical situation. The measure was part of the Aprista government's attempts to face the economic crisis that had generated protests and street riots with more than 200 deaths in March of that year.
