Dynamiting of Centromín locomotive

The PCP-Sendero Luminoso dynamited a Centromín locomotive in Cerro de Pasco on April 7, 1989, as part of a campaign of attacks against the state mining company. This attack was part of the subversive group's efforts to prepare an armed strike in the central region.

On April 7, 1989, the PCP-Sendero Luminoso dynamited a locomotive owned by Centromín in Cerro de Pasco. This attack was part of a series of violent actions against installations of the state mining company that intensified since December 1988. The attack occurred in the context of a campaign by the PCP-SL to generate favorable conditions for an armed strike in the central region of the country. Days after this attack, on April 16, Seferino Requis, secretary general of the Cerro de Pasco union base, was assassinated during an assembly in the union premises.
