Detention and torture of villager in Chupaca by military personnel
Villager tortured in basement of December 9 barracks with electric cables, tubs and hooks
On March 14, 1989, a villager was arrested at his home in the district of Chongos Bajo by military personnel and taken to the 9 de diciembre barracks in the province of Huancayo. On the fourth day of his captivity he was taken to a basement where he entered a specially conditioned room to be tortured, where he saw that there were electric cables, water tubs and hooks for hanging. The witness affirmed that he only heard screams and cries of those who were taken to the basement. In turn, he was stripped naked, beaten and confirmed his suspicions about the torture room. He was detained for 18 days at DINCOTE where he was severely punished and tortured.
