PCP-SL assassinates police officer in UNCP university campus

PCP-SL militants assassinated a police officer in the UNCP campus on March 12, 1989, in the midst of a bloody struggle between subversive groups for control of the university.

On March 12, 1989, militants of the Communist Party of Peru - Shining Path (PCP-SL) assassinated a police officer in the university campus of the UNCP. This event occurred in the context of the struggle between the PCP-SL and the MRTA at the university, which reached bloody proportions in 1989. The murder of the policeman was part of a series of violent actions that the PCP-SL carried out on the university campus during that year, including the subsequent murder of three APRA students on April 28 and the deadly attack on professor Luis Aguilar Romaní on July 18.
