Secretary General of the PAP calls for commitment to peace and democracy

The secretary general of the PAP issued a statement calling on all social and party forces to sign a commitment to peace and democracy in the context of the political crisis and violence that Peru was going through.

On March 3, 1989, the general secretary of the Peruvian Aprista Party (PAP) issued an official statement of his political group. In this communiqué, he called on all social and party forces in the country to sign a commitment for peace and democracy. This initiative took place in a context of serious political and economic crisis, as well as the intensification of armed violence by subversive groups such as Sendero Luminoso and MRTA. The call sought to generate a national consensus in the face of the situation of violence that the country was going through.
