Murder of Alejandro Galindo Muro

Alejandro Galindo Muro, departmental secretary general of the Aprista Youth (JAP) of Huamanga, Ayacucho, was assassinated on February 22, 1989. This assassination occurred in a context of intense political violence in Ayacucho, where the PCP-SL had called for a week-long general strike on February 18. The crime was part of a series of selective assassinations against authorities and political leaders that intensified during 1989, a year in which 75 elected authorities and 41 political authorities appointed by the government were killed.
