Presentation of Acuerdo Socialista
Public presentation of Acuerdo Socialista, a political front integrated by the Revolutionary Communist Party, the Regional Mariateguist Committees and the National Coordinating Committee for Socialist Convergence. According to Senator Bernales, it represents the majority positions of the I National Congress of IU.
On February 15, 1989, Acuerdo Socialista was publicly presented as the new name of the front formed by the Revolutionary Communist Party, the Mariateguist Regional Committees and the National Coordinating Committee for Socialist Convergence. Senator Enrique Bernales Ballesteros considers that Acuerdo Socialista does not seek the internal confrontation of Izquierda Unida (IU), but is the instrument and expression of the majority positions of the I National Congress of IU. This presentation takes place in the context of reorganization and internal debates within the Peruvian left after the I National Congress of IU held in January of the same year.
