Second PCP-SL raid in Putaqasa
On February 10, 1989, the PCP-SL carried out a second raid in Putaqasa, Sacsamarca, killing two community members. This attack was part of a series of punitive actions against communities organized in Self-Defense Committees.
On February 10, 1989, the PCP-SL again raided Putaqasa, an annex of the Sacsamarca district. In this second attack, the subversive organization assassinated two community members. This event occurred approximately a year and a half after the first incursion on September 14, 1987, when the PCP-SL had killed nine community members and set fire to houses. The community of Putaqasa, which had been razed in 1987, continued to be the target of attacks by the Shining Path PCP due to its organization into Self-Defense Committees.
