Capture of Professor Luis Kawata Makabe
On February 24, university professor Luis Kawata Makabe, an opponent of Abimael Guzmán Reinoso within the PCP-SL but considered his lieutenant by the press at the time, was captured in Ayacucho. His capture was presented as an important blow against the structure of the PCP-Sendero Luminoso.
